My long weekend/short week in Milan

I always have a great time in Italy. The nice combination of mild weather, beautiful architecture and hearty food makes me want to come back there even before going back home. My recommendations from my 5 day trip to Milan.

I love in Milan…

The Bulgari Hotel

Via Privata Fratelli Gabba 7/b, Milano

Bulgari hotel, the biggest “jewel” of the Italian jewellery maker… What I loved about this hotel is that it is right in the centre, but is still very private and secluded.

Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia

Via Montecuccoli, 6, Milano

“Cream of fresh zucchini and their flowers, peas and fava beans with burrata cheese and Nocellara olive oil” in two Michelin stars restaurant in the outskirts of Milan. This delicious soup represents all the best spring ingredients- very light and at the same time full of strong flavours.

Da Giacomo

Via Benvenuto Cellini, ang. P.Sottocorno ,6 ,Milano

Da Giacomo restaurant. Probably the best seafood restaurant in Milan.

Blackberry martini in the bar of Bulgari hotel. It was made of fresh blackberries. It could be the “king” of all the martinis.

I was not so crazy about…

Nobu Milano

Via Manzoni 31, 20121 Milano

The joint venture of Nobu and Armani. When I go to New York, London or Miami, usually I love to eat out in one of this chain’s restaurants. The food is quite good and the environment is cool. Unfortunately, I can’t say that about Nobu’s branch in Milan. The plain design and huge amount of tables make the place look like a school cantine or a factory. (If there were no that sexy light, it would really look like a cantine.). Not surprisingly – the food quality was very mediocre. I would even say, much worse than in Nobu New York or London.

Il Lardo

I took it for antipasto in one the restaurants close to Via Montenapoleone not knowing that in fact, it is only the fat of pig… I absolutely I love the Italian salumi, but il lardo is not my cup of tea!!
