Saturne

It seems that the Saturne (17 Rue Notre-Dame des Victoires  75002 Paris, tel. +33142603190 ) chef focuses more on how beautiful his dishes look rather than how they taste. Raw mackerel, sea urchin and cauliflower starter sounded great but tasted bland and boring, same as the monkfish with leeks and mâche salad. I don’t want to  judge a restaurant by going there just once, but what I’ve had at Saturne was  so forgettable I might as well forget to return there…

    Hi Luxeat!
I want first of all thank you for the tips about Ushiwakameru in NYC. I just came back from there and we had a great time. Brooklyn Fare was fantastic. You have to go next time you visit.
Me and my fiance will visit Paris in June 8-11th. I’m thinking about Le Bristol but we also want some other ideas where to go. We are looking at great bistros and other hot spots
Who else is better to ask than you?
    Cheers,
    Magnus

    Hi Magnus,
Le Bristol would be really a good choice. It’s the old fashioned kind of gastronomy ,very different from Noma, but i really liked it. Also, you just must go to Agapé Substance, i wrote about it on my blog. Le Comptoir du Relais could be a good casual bistro choice where you can walk in. Recently i also enjoyed Le Chardenoux des Prés, it’s a bistro owned by a French celebrity chef Cyril Lignac. I don’t know if you like seafood, but Le Duc (243 Boulevard Raspail 75014 Paris, 01 43 20 96 30 ) has been always one of my favorite restaurants in Paris. Again, it’s been there for ages, but the seafood quality at Le Duc is superb.
I am going to Paris today for the weekend, I will let you know if I have more tips to share!

    Hi Luxeat,
I noticed on fb that you went to Royal Mansour. What did you think? I booked the french restaurant for early May. Any other tips for Marrakech are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Marc

    Hi Marc,
Royal Mansour was probably one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed.I don’t know if you stay there, but you should have a walk in all the building anyway – simply breathtaking. Regarding the French restaurant, it was very good, but you know how it is with those famous chefs restaurants spin offs (in this case Yannick Alleno), they are never as good as the original.(but you will pay similar price as at Le Meurice in Paris) The hotel has another restaurant, La Grande Table Marocaine, which serves fine Moroccan cuisine. That one was really excellent.
I would also recommend the restaurants of La Mamounia hotel.(and the Moroccan, and the French). Apart of that, i didn’t explore much Marrakech, but I heard that the restaurant at Es Saadi Palace hotel is not bad.
Anyway, anywhere you go, Marrakech is amazing,I hope you will enjoy it!
    Aiste
