I've read so much about Chez L'Ami Jean in other food blogs (especially in the anglophone ones),that I had to defend my" food blogger honor" and to check it out myself :)
Probably because of this particular fact that it is well known by jetsetting foodies ,the ambiance of this small Basque style bistro in the 7th(27 Rue Malar 75007 ,tel 01 47 05 86 89 27) is very international. I could hear many languages! Don't get me wrong though, even if there were many foreigners dining , the place is far from being touristy.In fact, there is something very authentic and "old Paris" about Chez L'Ami Jean.
When my first course arrived, the reason why this rustic bistro is
so popular, became obvious. The food looks far much better than it
sound on the menu : it is modern and sophisticated. Really not
something you would expect from a bistro. The chef Stephane Jego used
to work under Yves Camdeborde in "La Regalade" and without question
took the best of his experience. Chez L'Ami Jean is a nice combination
of gastronomic and bistro traditions.
