More about Maison Joseph Drouhin, A Legacy Since 1880.
Maison Joseph Drouhin has roots dating back to 1880, with its estate now spanning 100 hectares in Burgundy’s esteemed terroirs. Joseph Drouhin, the founder, took over the family business at 22 years old in Beaune. His son, Maurice, expanded the estate beginning in 1918, notably acquiring the “Clos des Mouches” vineyard in 1921, which he cherished for its exceptional quality.
After Robert Drouhin took charge in 1957, he continued the growth of the Domaine by acquiring Premier and Grand Crus, particularly in Côte de Nuits and Chablis. He made significant investments, including purchasing the historic Moulin de Vaudon and establishing one of Burgundy’s first female-led oenology labs. Together with his daughter Véronique, he launched Domaine Drouhin Oregon in 1987.
Currently, the Maison is managed by Joseph Drouhin’s four great-grandchildren: Philippe, Véronique, Laurent, and Frédéric. They uphold the traditions of winemaking while innovating for the future. The estate remains one of Burgundy’s largest, covering the wine regions of Chablis, Côte de Nuits, and more, focused mainly on the celebrated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varieties. This heritage has been cultivated through strategic acquisitions and family dedication.
