Amerigo 1934

One of the best meals I’ve had this summer was at Amerigo 1934, an unassuming trattoria located in the sleepy Savigno village in the heart of the Emilian Appennines. Opened in 1934 like one might guess from its name, Amerigo serves traditional Emilian Romagnol cuisine very much influenced by the seasons and the outstanding produce from the surrounding hills. Over the years, it has been introducing more creative and contemporary dishes, while keeping such grand classics as tagliatelle al ragù (here traditionally served with raw red onion- what a great idea!) or tortellini al brodo on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised (which I didn’t notice during my last visit in 2019), that Amerigo 1934 has also one Michelin star – and, I must say, very deservedly so.
