Breakfast at The Peninsula, Tokyo

Japanese breakfast is a well-rounded meal that is often considered to be the most important meal of the day in Japan. So when you’re planning your culinary trip to Japan, it’s the first place to start. It typically comprises steamed rice, miso soup, grilled fish such as salmon or mackerel, and a variety of side dishes, which can include pickles, seaweed, natto, or eggs. The meal is often served on a lacquered tray or in a bento box, with each dish thoughtfully arranged in its own compartment. In Japan, food is not only meant to nourish the body but also to delight the senses, and breakfast is no exception. Therefore, the meal is not only a feast for the stomach but also a visual delight.
