My 10 must-go pintxos bars in San Sebastian

In random order.

Bar Ganbara

For wild mushrooms with raw egg yolk, monkfish with prawn and other extraordinary quality seafood. (It has a restaurant, which you can book.)

La Cuchara de San Telmo

For grilled foie gras, suckling pig and octopus.

Casa Urola

For “egg, aïoli, prawn and anchovy” pintxo among others. Also for the fantastic cooking at the restaurant upstairs.

Txepetxa

For everything anchovies, especially for anchovies with pepper vinaigrette or anchovy with tuna and mayonnaise. The sausage pintxo is a must have too.

Bar Antonio

For the exceptional tortilla. (Make sure to be at around 11.30 am or at 18.15-30 pm as it sells out in a matter of minutes.) Also for the classic “salted anchovy with sweet and spicy peppers” pintxo.

Borda Berri

For suckling pig.

Narru

Which is also a regular restaurant you can book, for tomato salad, almejas in the green sauce, ravioli with oxtail and foie gras.

Bar Nestor

For chuleton and tomato salad.

Atari Gastroleku

For grilled octopus.

La Viña

For the out-of-this-world cheesecake.
