Harry’s Bar is a legendary Venetian institution where beef carpaccio and Bellini cocktail were invented. Even though it was my first time at Harry’s Bar, it seemed that everything, or, at least the menu, was déjà vu. It is here, steps away from San Marco square, where the famous New York restaurants Cipriani were born.
Elegant, attentive service, interior back from the forties and beautiful location on the banks of the Grand Canal made the lunch somehow special. The only drawback was the prices. I thought that 45 euros for a basic beef carpaccio or 25 for a selection of cakes were not worth it. I understand when you pay this price for a sophisticated starter in a gastronomic restaurant, but 45 euros for some raw beef on a plate was too much. Just another tourist’s rip-off? Maybe…
