
Seven days in Japan
If you’ve ever had the good fortune to visit Japan, you’ll doubtless have had the same rich feeling I have, on my return; the chaos of Tokyo, idyllic scenery of the countryside, kind gestures of the people and the absolute obsession with the detail in their craft.
The philosophy of ‘Shokunin’, which means ‘artisan’ is deeply embedded in the Japanese way of living. A lifetime of dedication to one’s craft, with the aim of perfecting every detail of one’s speciality. It’s central to so much of Japanese culture, and never more evident than in their art; craft and food.
I have partnered with ANA which took me on a culinary journey from Tokyo to Kyoto, from the heights of the Pizza Bar on the 38th floor of Mandarin Oriental to bustling streets and standing sushi bar Tachigui Sushi Tonari.
Over 5 days myself and a film crew explore the best of all things food and craft – supported by Japan’s largest 5-Star airline ANA.
