Auberge du Raisin

The dinner at one-star Auberge du Raisin was a very pleasant surprise. In fact, it was the second choice of dining while staying in Lausanne, but the first choice – the three stars restaurant of Philippe Rochat is closed on Mondays…

The dinner in Auberge du Raisin though was much more than what I expected. The restaurant is located in a small hotel and is decorated like a Swiss chalet.  A nice, cosy place with a fireplace and dark wood tables.

The menu choices sounded humble on the menu but looked sophisticated in the plate.  Everything I had was excellent-the roasted “côte de boeuf” with red wine sauce was so tender it was almost melting in your mouth…

“Scallops with caviar” was probably one of the best dishes I have ever had in my life and is worth a more detailed description… Slightly warm slices of scallops and Beluga caviar in the middle were formed like small sandwiches. Even if it was a warm dish, the sauce was so delicate that you could feel the wonderful flavour of the caviar…

The images of “scallops with caviar”and the  Swiss cheese trolley… Isn’t it beautiful?
